/ / / THE . POWER . OF . A . DANCE . PARTY / / /
December 29, 2017

Yesterday morning, Huxlie (who is 3) was having a grumpy morning. We usually chat all the way to school about what we are excited about that day, what we want to do after school, what we think we’re going to have for lunch…
But yesterday she was quiet the whole way to school. I didn’t want to say good bye on that note, so I did the only reasonable thing I could think of… I turned on our favorite Trolls song (“Get Back Up Again” by Anna Kendrick), turned it up, and we danced in the street in front of her school. And boom, just like that we were both happy. We had danced, she went into school happy, and my heart was light, knowing I wasn’t leaving her when she was feeling sad.

So today, of course she asked for another dance party… we picked Harry Belafonte’s Banana Boat song (we ate bananas on the way to school) and once again, cranked up the music and danced in the street. Don’t worry, it’s a very quiet street:) And once again, boom. Just like that, we are both singing, dancing, and ready to have a great day.
Don’t ever estimate the power of a dance party. Even if it’s just for 30 seconds or a minute. Feeling down/sad/bored/lazy/uninspired today? Pick your favorite song, turn it up and just dance! It will turn your life around!!!
