A poem by OULA Sister Laura Schlotthauer

Move your body
One Foot
Then the other
Something stirs
Deep inside
Your body wakes
The scene is set
The story
Begins

Feel your body
Veins pulsing
Beat and tempo
Flowing with energy
And melody
Your feet carry you
Faster
Faster
Heart beating
Faster
Faster
The heat flows through
Your muscles
Building, swelling
Hotter
Faster

Touch your body
With an open palm
Flesh meets flesh
Hot, dripping flesh
Fire
Burning
Searing
Spreading
Losing control
The world spins
Faster
Hotter
Your body
And you
Spinning
Blurring
Together
At last

Hear your body
The monster within
Bursts from your chest
I AM HERE
Screaming
Crying
Reaching out
Fingers outstretched
Wanting
Needing
To be
Loved

Hold your body
It has carried
You here
Breathe
In and
Out
Cleansing
Releasing
Resolving
Accepting
Love your body
