/// when the beat becomes a rhythm ///
February 9, 2017

Kali Lindner started Oula’s beat in the fall of 2010. Slowly, people wanted to join her and before long, the beat she had started became a powerful rhythm. There is now Oula in 22 states and 3 countries, but it all had to start somewhere. Want to hear the story from the beginning?

Meet Oula’s first Instructor. We’ll let her introduce herself….

My name is Eleisha Clark, I currently teach OULA in Orem, Utah (If you are ever in the Salt Lake area, come see me!). I found OULA 7 years ago while I was a completing my undergrad degree at the University of Montana. I was the social chair of my sorority, and one of my friends brought me a business card and said, “I met this girl on campus, she said she would teach us to dance for free!” That girl was Kali, and of course I said yes. Ironically, at that point in my life, I hated group fitness in every form. I never went to classes, and was probably the most unqualified person on the planet to be teaching OULA. I scheduled a date for Kali to teach for us in the UC on campus, in a carpeted room that had a partition we couldn’t move, so the room was half the size we needed it to be for about 40 people. But it was LIFE-CHANGING! I always tell people I spent the majority of the class laughing in the corner, because it was so fun, but I was so terrible at it. Kali hurriedly left, but as she exited said, “I’m looking for instructors if anyone is interested”. Something compelled me to chase her down the hallway, and a few months later I got certified. I am so grateful that OULA came into my life!
