Q. What is OULA?

A. OULA is an easy to follow, high cardio, dance fitness class for people of all abilities. It is a motivating hour of high-energy exercise to great music where participants are free to let it all out, and dance free of judgement. OULA is not just an exercise class, it is an experience. We are a welcoming community where you enter looking to burn calories, and leave feeling better about yourself and your day. OULA is dancemania for your soul.

Q. Can anyone take OULA?

A. OULA is for every age, gender, and fitness level. If you enjoy music, OULA is for you! OULA is meant to be fun and feel good. Before every class, the instructor reminds participants, “it’s not about how you look, it’s about how you feel.” We encourage you to listen to how your body feels and modify the movements so that they are fun and enjoyable while you’re doing them. As always, please consult your doctor before participating in any exercise program.

Q. What should I wear to class?

A. Comfortable, breathable clothes are what we suggest, but this is your hour, so wear what you want! We do, however, suggest that you wear supportive shoes and a quality insole. Cross trainers are our favorites!

Q. How often should I go to OULA?

A. We believe it takes about 3 classes to start learning the choreography in an OULA class. After your first few classes, you’ll be hooked like the rest of the OULA community, and quickly be on your way to OULAgin status. As always, our focus is how you feel, so listen to your body and attend class as much as your heart (and body) desires.

Q. What can I expect in an OULA class?

A. OULA is about losing ourselves in the music and helping us shift our focus from how we look to how we feel. Because OULA can be done at any intensity level, it is a great class for people of all ages, shapes, dance experience and ability. Classes are 55-60 minutes long and consist of warming up, 45 minutes of high cardio, and then a cool down that incorporates some light stretching. OULA is about full body movement, interval training, and optimal fat-burning. It’s also about serious fun. Classes are guaranteed to leave you dripping with sweat and smiling from ear to ear.

Q. What is OULA’s story?

A. OULA was created in 2010 by Kali Lindner. A graduate of The University of Montana in Missoula, Kali became a certified yoga instructor in Missoula and then received her White Belt in the Nia Technique in Portland, Oregon. Still, she found herself wanting a more physically intense, high-energy and light-hearted workout. Not able to find what she was looking for, she created it herself in MissOULA, Montana. Turning to her background in ballet, jazz, and modern dance, and her intense love of music, Kali combined the movement of dance, the intensity of aerobic workouts, and the philosophies of yoga and Nia to create OULA – Dancemania for the Soul.
